which is best airport for me?

I wish to travel to bangkok in end of October around 26/27th Oct and return back to Uk around 22/23 Nov. I live near Newcastle. Flights from Newcastle around £600 mark.

Prices from London Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester are around £400-430 range. Big difference. This is with Etihad airways.

Questions:
1. Is this airline any good - etihad?

2. Which airport does anyone recommend is easiest to get to from Newcastle?
The flights i have seen depart the UK aroudn 10am.

(Not on strict budget so happy to pay a little extra if it saves times anywhere).

If anyone can find a cheap deal for me from Newcastle around £500 mark i will be very HAPPY!

If you need a hotel in Bangkok, even for just one night, it might be worth contacting an agent like https://www.trailfinders.com to see if a flight+hotel deal is any better from Newcastle NCL. BTW I think there might be some https://www.bmibaby.co.uk flights from Teeside MME to gatwick. BA fly from NCL-LGW, easyJet NCL-STN.

If you can get up to Edinburgh you can fly SAS to bangkok via copenhagen for a good price

If you go through the travel shop link on the BA site , then click on the £100 off world flights banner in the right hand column, you can get a BA flight from Newcastle, via Heathrow to Bangkok.

You would leave 17.55 on the 27th (26th comes up with Newcastle into Gatwick so best on 27th which has flight from Newcastle into Heathrow), flight from Heathrow to Bangkok at 22:00, arrival 3pm local time next day (there are other options). Return flights were on 23rd Nov - leaving Bangkok at Midnight, arrival in Newcastle at 8:30 in the morning. Total cost is £578 including the travelshop discount.

There is a BA/Qatar airline combination for £458 - again, connecting at Heathrow. (Qatar are meant to be good) - but you would have to come back on the 22nd as flight is full on 23rd - see www.airlinenetwork.co.uk. There is a stop in Doha on this flight - arrives in bangkok 19.45. Also Emirates for £518.

https://www.evaair.com also do flights but aren't daily so you'd have to search for the best, can be good if you pick the cheapest sectors.

Shame i dont live at Edinburgh that price is v. cheap!
