My concern with this, for myself, is there is no numeric keypad.
Probably not something a little-un will use, but if it is ultimately going to be a shared computer, that would personally drive me mad.
  • Good point JTW, it won't be a shared pc as I'll have my new shiny one but I bet a lot of ds will do involves numbers - just think of the Numberjacks on Cbeebies!

You refer to RM, who are they?
:j Go on, shake your money maker! :j

My kids are now 3 and 4 and have been using a standard laptop for quite a while now. We got them a small laptop mouse - not specially for kids just small coz it is aimed at those on the go who need something small to go in a laptop bag. They manage just fine. Zoom around the Cbeebies site no probs.

My two are the same age and can easily turn on and use both the pc and laptop, and have been able to for quite some time now, however they use the touch pad on the laptop :rotfl:

Same as Buttonmoons said as soon as im away from the laptop they are on it opening up pictures on themselves :rotfl:

Personally I wouldn't worry about a child friendly keyboard or mouse, my 6 year old manages quite well enough with the full sized ones and has done since I can't remember.
She also uses full sized ones at school, as will yours soon I presume?

Another vote for Cbeebies, amazing site, there's enough content on there to keep a kid happy for years. I don't bother with parental software yet as she only goes on Cbeebies site and isn't searching yet and I'm always around, but it won't be long.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
  • My 3 year old grandaughter uses a full size mouse, loads of free sites on the internet if you google them, early learning have a games site too http://www.elc.co.uk/kids/
