Reduced MPG in 08 Zafira

Can anyone advise me on this as Im as a loss how to move forward. I have owned 3 zafira's, all from new. I have always got approx 330 mpg from full to empty tank. About 6 months ago I noticed the MPG had reduced and I was only getting 260 to a tank..big drop. Took it back to the dealer and they ran it through the computer said there was a small fuel leak but other than that no problems. I am still never getting more than 290 from a tank..more like 260. I did a run to yorkshire over xmas ( all motorway miles) and still only got 330 from a full tank.

Its costing me a fortune in petrol ( its a 1.6). Ive been back again to the dealer and again they ran it through the computer but can find no fault. They state it could be one of many things but if they replace something and is isnt that then vauxhall wont pay up. I havent changed my driving style in anyway and there havent been any modifications to the car.

Im thinking of just getting shut but then Im out of pocket trading in so early. Any ideas?

Yes they have..I know its a big chunk of car for a 1.6 and even at 330 to a tank I didnt think was particulary good but this is ridiculous.

And they fixed the leak? You didn't say they had.

This consumption sounds poor but we have no idea how you drive so it's very difficult to comment. Is there anything at all different about your current usage compared with previously.

A fully laden 1.6 Zafira is unlikely to be a paragon of fuel efficiency.

As Harvey has said, most probably due to electrical load and long cold start cycles.

Even at 330 miles to a tank you're a long way off the 42mpg combined that Vauxhall claim it's capable of - it has a 58 litre tank! It should be returning more than that on a long motorway journey IMO.

What kind of driving do you normally do - all in town or what? Is the car fully laden with passengers all the time?

260 miles to 58 litres is 20mpg. Obviously you never actually run the tank dry but it's still terrible.
