Cheapest driving lessons in London?
I just had a look at the AA website and for my area it was quoting me £60 for 2hrs driving lessons. If i travel out of central London a bit it drops to £52 per 2hrs. I have an NUS card which should entitle me to a small discount (not sure how much yet) but was wondering if there are any other driving schools offering cheaper lessons or deals?

Don't choose a driving instructor based on price - seriously.
You want personal recommendation from others - I'd recommend looking for independent instructors instead of the big schools though.
Have a look at http://www.2passforum.co.uk/ - there are plenty of instructors on there that will no doubt know and be able to recommend one close to you.0 -
Ok, i'll put a thread up on that forum asking for recommendations as well. But price is still a very big concern for me as i'm only on an apprentice's wage and even £60 for 2 hrs is a big layout for me.0

If you're looking for a good price, then it might be worthwhile you looking into booking a week's holiday when the weather's nice and booking onto an intensive week long course. Combine a holiday with driving lessons somewhere cheap. One site that offers these says "On average up to 20% of the weekly lesson is spent on recapping the previous lesson. Further time is spent on travelling between the lesson starting places and training areas. With intensive courses the need for recapping is almost eliminated, and travelling time is kept to a minimum which will mean more tuition in less hours"
You could stay in a cheap B&B.0 -

Many people hold the opinion that it's pretty difficult to learn a life skill in a week though and a lot of these courses result in failure, more expense and/or drivers that hold a licence but have a severe deficiency in experience....0 -
My (ex) instructor does the South London area and charges £20 per hour. I passed in January.
He is an independent instructor, but works under a small driving school franchise.
Most of the tests he does are done at Morden, South Norwood and Croydon.
I'd be happy to give you his details if you want them.0 -

£30 a hour!!! Good God! I paid £25 for 1.5 hours when I learnt this time last year, although it was £27 if I hadn't block booked 10. Check BSM and the AA regularly, they often have special offers on...0
