miami flight cost

Hi family have asked to join them on a rci criuse christmas 2007. going out from miami .I dont know whether to book flights and hotel seperate to get a better deal ,also giving extra days in miami to recover from flight.Would it be to my advantage or should I just book the lot with r ci and be sure of everything .Someone out there must have gone under their own steam,Im good at organising but would like opinions .My mum 84 daughter15 and me!
