Gatso error?

I've had a notice accusing me of speeding. In a 60mph limit, it accuses me of doing 70.
Problem is I was doing 55 by my speedo, and following a slow truck for 1 mile.
So I know I was not exceeding 60, but am accused of 70.

Is there anything I can sensibly do, or would it be cheaper to just plead guilty, even though I'm not?

Try asking the safety camera partnership for the 2 pictures taken of your vehicle from the Gatso so you can check your speed from the lines on the road.

Kite2010 is right a friend of mine was accused of speeding.

He requested the photos and through the little white blocks/lines on the road you can calcuate the actual speed.

Stick this in a letter andask them to double check, assuming you can prove your right (shouldn't be any problem) the police will cancel the ticket!

And if you are found to be right, make sure you tell a newspaper in the area so that other motorists who may have been falsely given a a ticket can get their points removed and money back. Wouldn't trust the police to automatically refund all fines!

Yes, you can show your innocence, but don't be surprised if they press on with a prosecution anyway.
