bathroom suite - is B&Q cheap, or is there an online place to get them cheaper?

as the title suggests, i'm looking for a new bathroom suite

b&q had a half price sale on some stuff, which makes me think their profit margins are too big and can i get cheaper online etc?

if so please recommend some sites!

There are lots of places where you can save on average 30% off RRP however avoid JABathrooms.co.uk. I made the mistake of using them and the service has been non existent. I know www.showermania.co.uk seemed to have very good prices but I caveat that with the fact that I haven't used them. I did get good prices from cityplumbing when JA Bathrooms let me down.

ETA:If you want to read my JABathrooms nightmare you can find it on the vents and warnings board.
  • Screwfix is the same company as B&Q.

But, some products are cheaper on B&Q's website and some on Screwfix.

Worth checking both as a cross reference

B&Q do not insist that they install your bathroom suite - they are a DIY store after all.

You can have a no-obligation home design for free CAD plans which may show fitting costs but should also show supply-only costs.

As for the margin, B&Q do often have half price sales relieving majority of their margin. This gives you a better deal and allows the company to shout about something on TV and in the press. I assure you the margins aren't that fantastic, hence why sales advisors and consultants only receive a very small commission.

You can buy branded suites at B&Q such as Armitage Shanks, so if you're after a brand, there is always something there...

Shower screens are supplied to B&Q mainly by Aqualux, most shower trays and bathrooms by PJH Group, taps no longer by Bristan/Tapmate - they are now directly imported from the middle east.

Baths are at least 4mm thick acrylic. The handful of cheaper baths are of this thickness whilst the majority are 5mm and 6mm, freestanding are double skinned obviously.

And yes, Screwfix is part of Kingfisher.

Don't forget your Quidco cashback for B&Q...

we have had a b&q bathroom for about 5 years not happy with the quality of it to be honest, toilet has had about 7 or 8 replacement parts for the cisten in that time. first couple replaced under warranty but had to buy the rest ourselves. Last time they went went to a plumbers merchant for the parts, as we were sick of forking out for expensive parts that didnt last.
  • Hi Guys.

Just thought I'd jump in here, have used Plumb World for years and found them quite reasonable on price, came accross First Bathrooms on the net last September and found they are much cheaper for branded products like Ideal Standard, Crosswater and Merlyn. I am a plumber and I go here for my customers. I also know a woman who works at B & Q, she gets a staff discount and she still went to First Bathrooms to buy her suite.

Anyone know who sells the cheapest Bristan Taps?

    Cheers
