Hi Everyone
I hope someone can help. I have tried entitledto website but as I am a full time student it states that it cannot help with finances for anyone who is a full time student or in hospital?
Im currently a full time student on a degree course and I also work a lot of hours a week (self employed) and I am also a single parent, but I have found it very, very difficult to cope with both studying full time and working as many hours as I do and looking after DD. Luckily I have managed to pass so far but the course workload is vastly increasing. So with my final year looming in a few months, I think that I am going to have to become a full time student if Im going to pass with a decent outcome.
I already have student loans and bursaries and I also claim WTC and CTC as well as my income from my job.
Im confused which bursaries or grants do Tax Credits take into account as their website and student finance told me you dont have to declare anything other than adult dependants grant which doesnt apply to me. Can I continue to claim CTC when being a full time student?
I have a mortgage on my home so would be dependant on student loans/grants only if I decide to give up working until graduation. I just wondered if I can still claim CTC?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The student income you are receiving will not affect your child tax credits at all.
You can always apply to the Access to Learning Fund at your uni if yo are finding it difficult financially after cutting your hours down.0 -

Thanks for your reply on CTC :j
Do I just phone Tax Credits and say as of this date I will no longer be working? Surely they will want details of what income I will have coming in. Im worried as they dont know Im also a full time student with loans/grants. I was told by student finance and looked on Tax Credits website that the grants I receive do not have to be declared so I didnt.(think its called special support grant or parents learning allowance). I only declare my income from self employment - I really hope they dont turn around and say oh this should have been declared and therefore here is the massive repayment we want back
Thanks x0 -
Of course you'll need to inform them when your earnings from self employment change/the hours you work changes.
You haven't been overpaid on the basis of your student income as it's completely disregarded for tax credits, so please don't worry!0 -
