Cheap Puppy Food on eBay?

Hello...:wave::wave::wave:

Has anyone got any experience of purchasing puppy food from ebay?

We recently were lucky enough to be blessed with an 8 week old lab and the breeder had him on the Hills Science plan (Large Breed), we want to continue using this for continuity as I read this would be best for him, but wow it is EXPENSIVE!!

But there are some sellers using ebay that appear a lot cheaper than in the high street shops, anyone tried this, I am relatively new to the internet and never used ebay before, can ebay be trusted?

many thanks

I was never aware that Lab were a " large breed"????????????/

may I suggest that when you are at your vets getting your wee ones inoculations and health check that you discuss what food you could be trying?

Whilst it is usually best to follow your breeder in this case I really would question your breeders choice of feed. Large breed food is aim at Great Danes, St Bernards etc, those that need high protein, high calcium feeds for their growth
  • Thanks, it's def the right food for a lab, it says so on the packet and the hills science plan have a lab dog as the stock photo on the front packet, they aim it at labs and above. I would post a link but it won't let me :(

bob, you can buy food on line from places like pet supermarket and zooplus.
  • i buy my hills for my lab from pet planet they offer free postage if spending over £35, ebay may seem cheap but they might add on very high postage cost.

I've bought from ebay with no problems - both cat and dog dry food - just remember to factor in the P&P costs.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

thnaks for the tip, at the moment there are some ebay auctions "15kg Hills Science Plan Puppy Large Breed Chicken" on for a 15kg bag for £29.99, whereas the petplanet is £47.99. Think I am going to go with the ebay one at that low price and give it a go, now all I have to work out is how to use Paypal!!
  • Oh, Paypal's easy to set up. You can choose to fund your purchases with a debit or credit card. CHECK OUT THE SELLER'S FEEDBACK BEFORE YOU BID!

Check it's not OOD stock if it's being sold so cheaply too.

Ohh sorry - made my laugh :)

As I am a recent "do not look at the fron, look at the back of the packet" convert ;)

I used to spend about 100 per month, often more to feed my "almost GS" Zara.

It was false economy - buying any cheaper food you always end up paying more as you have to feed more.

Right now Zata is fed Orijen which is regarded as very expensive but gues what? Because I only feed her 300 g per day - it only cost me about £40 per month to feed my 39kg of fur.

She also eats occassional bone or pig leg (the bottom part) or mince (all raw) which costs next to nothing if you visit the buchers.

Going to walk round chinese shops at the weekends to get some chicken FEET (yes, feet) as those are very good for joints..(eaten raw of course) and natural... Didnt have a clue where to get them but kind people on here suggested chinese shops so will try them ;)

Total about 50 per month - down from well over 100, so half :)

Also, I was feeding Zara ONLY raw till she was a year old...
