SD card help please.

Hi I want an Sd card for my old, 3mp, camera. It came with a 256 sd card so I was hoping that a 2gb would work as they are cheaper. I have had a look at Amazon but I am confused. What is the difference between these two please and should they work on my camera ?

TIA

According to THIS PAGE, your camera only supports SD Cards up to 2GB

The number 2 in the circle is the class (speed) of the card.

I am unfamiliar with class 2 but class 4/6 are SDHC Cards so will not be compatible with your camera.

It may be worth a punt but to play safe, I would go for the simple SD card (the bottom one), although neither suggest they are SDHC Cards

7 dayshop normally has some quite cheap cards, not sure how much your Amazon ones are compared to £5.49 delivered from 7 dayshop

The class simply indicates the data transfer speed; it bears no relation to the type of card. If you look closely, you'll see that there's a class 4 2GB SD card on the very page you've linked to!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look for me. It never even crossed my mind to do a search!

I have some credit on Amazon wich is due to run out in the next couple of weeks so I may well go with them.

    Thank you so much

I don't take issue with what you have said, like I mentioned, I've never got too far into the SD/SDHC issues but for the page I linked to I could only see one Class 4 SD Card and one Class 2, but if you click the picture both are clearly shown as SDHC Card's

Unless you meant the 7 Day shop link which I haven't looked at closely to see if there are Class 2 SD Cards. :)

The listing looks a little ambiguous to me. If they truly are SDHC cards, what are they doing on that page?

According to this Nikon only supports the use of <1GB SD cards in the Coolpix 3200.
Other brands and capacities of cards may work, but Nikon cannot guarantee operation. If using a memory card not listed above please check with the manufacturer for compatibility information. Nikon recommend keeping an approved memory card available for troubleshooting. Unless otherwise stated, Multi Media Cards (MMC) are not recommended and should not be used.

Rats.... I wish I had seen this sooner I have just ordered a 2gb from Amazon. Oh well if it doesn't work with my camera it may well fit one of the childrens as they have the more upto date equipment.

    Thanks for your help everyone
