Hi - can anyone help me. My son wants an ipod touch for his b'day and I am not sure which one to buy. He will be using it for games / internet more than music, so would an 8gb be sufficient?

8Gb will be fine. The games are quite small and internet is fairly negligible.
If you buy from Apple directly, they will engrave it for free too.0 -
We got my daughter an 8GB one for Christmas. She's not had any issues with the available space.
Be aware though that the 8GB one is sitll a 2nd gen iPod so it doesn't have voice control and I believe some of the internals are slightly different. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Yes, 8 gb will be more than enough. For many people 8gb will be enough for music and apps. If you want to store lots of videos then I would recommend getting a 16 or 32 gb model.0

Make sure you get a screen protector as well as a case for it. Its mighty expensive to repair if he shoves it in his back pocket and sits on it.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

Just a word of caution about engraving. If you tend to ebay/resell gadgets when apple bring out the next generation "must have" gadget then you are losing a lot of the resale value if the ipod is engraved. Just something to bear in mind, I've always steered away from this for my DD as we tend to ebay things so that we don't end up with a large collection of gadgets.Massive thanks to all who contribute on the MSE forums, especially on grabbit and competition boards0
