My daughter is due to start 6th form this year and needs a bank account for her EMA etc. Can anyone reccommend a good one for her to open please.
She would appreciate any freebies they offer as well LOL
Thanks for your time

The main ones are:
Halifax:
Cardcash account: http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/cardcash.asp
- Visa Debit card, good online banking, and if she wants to save (and/or you want her to save!) she can open the Web Saver Extra which pays 2.8% - one of the best instant access rates at the moment.
Lloyds TSB:
Under 19's account: http://www.lloydstsb.com/current_accounts/under_19s_account.asp
- Pays 2.5% interest. Comes with a debit card.
HSBC:
MyAccount: http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/current-accounts/under-18s
- Good internet banking, no other real benefits.
Barclays:
Young Person's Account: http://www.bank.barclays.co.uk/Currentaccounts/Otheraccounts/YoungPersonsAccount/P1242558381583
- Comes with a debit card.
I would avoid Natwest, Santander and A&L if it was me, as customer service at these banks isn't so good.
Halifax is probably best if you want her to save more for the longer term (the 2.8% account only gives her one free withdrawal per year - so there's more incentive to keep it there for uni etc), or go for Lloyds if she's looking to be able to withdraw from her savings lots.0 -
I think Freebies are more for student accounts for uni than students in college0
