LPG Car Insurance

How do you get insurance to cover a car converted to LPG ? I have contacted several of the usual suspects but nobody has been able to make me happy. All I get is an empty promise to call back or in one instance some rude dude putting the phone down on me  I can't beleive they don't want my money. Anybody had similar probs ?

If you have an LPGA installation certificate then most insurers will be happy to insure you. Otherwise you are up sh*t creek without a paddle. Sorry to be so blunt but a self-installed, amateur, or non-certified LPG conversion is a liability and most insurers don't want to know.

Thanks for the info Mike. At least I've got something to go on now. Cheers.

  • Hi,

My OH has his Land Rover insured with Frizzell, he had the conversation done at a proper installer and has the certificate. However I don't think they asked about it.

For Eddie if you had install it yourself you can take it to an approve LPG fitter who will check it over and give a cert which can be use to insure the car than. Some proper places even offer this DIY service where you install the sytem in their garage the engineer watch you but won't install it and than test it at the end and give you the cert. Save about £400 but I myself would pay them to do it, cause I don't even know how to change the tyre!!!
