Epson DX7450 printing problem

As the title states, my printer has a problem -it refuses to print!
The colour carts are pretty much empty, black cart is full.
All I want to print is a word document (a letter), but the printer refuses. It recognises that the black cart is full (and that the colour ones are empty).
Surely I dont have to go out and buy colour carts to solve the problem?
Any advice to get around the issue (or how to solve it if its anything else.)
Thanks in advance.

No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

What is the error message?
No error mesage, just everytime I go to print, the Epson Control Manager pops up to install carts. Black is installed and dont have (or really want to at present) colour carts. Go to print again and same thing happens, although it recognises black cart is full.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Apparently, you cant use the printer if one of the carts is completly empty. No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

£3-68 for all four delivered.0 -
I have an Epson Stylus SX200 and I cannot print unless the four cartridges have sufficient ink in them. I use inkcycle remanufactured cartridges, £3.28 each but I have been advised to install a set of genuine cartridges every 2 or 3 sets of remanufactured ones because, apparently, it has a cleaning gel to clean the heads.0
