How do I fix my fan pull cord?

I have an extractor fan in the kitchen with a string pull cord to switch it on. I pulled too hard and the string came out of the fan
I want to fix it but I'm not sure where it goes.
If you go to the link below there are some images of the fan. Hopefully someone can tell me where it goes.
I think it goes in the hole in the first image but not sure how I would access it as it seems enclosed. Would I need to take the fan off the wall and access it from the back?
