Useless Duvet Cover Fasteners

A year or two ago I bought a duvet cover with some slightly unusual fasteners - each is a knot about 1cm across on the end of a short loop. I thought they seemed a bit odd at the time but decided that if they didn't work I could take the duvet back. They did work OK at first but now they have softened and the cover comes undone every night. This is very frustrating. It's a bit late to take the duvet back.

Any simple ideas for how to fix the problem? If I could just enlarge the knots it would probably work. I'm not sure that I want to go to the trouble of replacing all the knots with buttons - I think I'd rather just buy a new duvet than do that. I'll gladly post a picture here if anyone can tell me how to.

Thanks for any help.
