MP3 player - how they work?

Hi,
Please prepare for some very daft questions but ... we've just recorded all our CDs on to the laptop as mp3 files.
Our CD player is broken so we'd like to get an MP3 player but don't really understand how they work.
Can you get an MP3 player which has a memory so all we would need to do is copy all the files from the laptop and into the MP3 memory?
Then how do you select which one to play from the MP3.
Or will we need to store them on a disc/stick pen and plug that into the MP3
.
If anyone could recommend a good middle of the road MP3 player that would be great too.
Thank you from two technological novices!

This will probably help you far more than I can here:

Buy an iPod Nano.
Middle of the road stores loads of songs ( and a few videos), and has an FM radio and Video camera built in.
You download itunes for free, which will copy your files across to the player.

It depends how much you want to spend and how you want to use it.
Ipod Nano is good, 8Gb from about £85 upwards depending what size of memory, widely available docking stations for Ipods which turn them into stand alone music units.
I bought a Sansa 8GB Clip+ for £44 just before Christmas which you can add extra memory to with a memory card (you can add another 16GB), it is small the size of a thin matchbox so very portable, excellent sound.
Because of it's small size I use it when working.
To play MP3s you just need to navigate various folders ie. albums, artists, audiobooks, ect.
To intalll MP3s I just drag and drop to where I want them on the player.0 -
I'd go with Sansa. Excellent quality and you get more for your money as you aren't paying a premium for Apple branding. The major advantage of the Sansa Fuze and Clip+ is that you can add more memory. No Apple can do that, bizarrely. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Curry's have the 2GB Sansa Clip+ just now in the sale for £19.99, they did have the 4GB for £24.99 but have sold out.

Sansa Fuze is what I'd recommend.
It will play video if you relaly want although the screen is pretty small but for the price it's hard to beat them and as Fifer said you can use an SD card to expand the memory if you fill it up.
I've also always liked Creative MP3 players but I'm a bit out of date with what their current range is like.
https://www.anythingbutipod.com is a good site for reviews and info on non-Apple MP3 palyers. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
