OK, just a quickie
I have a Sony NWDB100 MP3, it has the ability to record voice conversations when using the voice recorder function  - the microphone is built into the front of the device.
Would I be able to put in an external mic with 3.5mm jack into the headphone port. Does anyone know if it would double up as an input ?

I doubt it. I am not familiar with the model but if the player was capable of this I would imagine it to come supplied with an earphone/mic set.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

Cheers Taffy, worth a try
I can always enhance audio with Sony Vegas and Audacity anyway. Managed to pick up low audio talking with my camcorder through double glazing and clarify it:DOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
