Above is a link to Martins article.

I doubt it would come through in time to help you pay your dad though.

    Hi,
I'm no expert but I think you have to be realistic that the only way you can get this £1600 is by borrowing more which is only going to add to your problems.
A question that's been asked before but not answered is 'what is the secured loan secured on' as it appears you are renting. The only possibility would be if you could 'remortgage' as the rate you are paying seems extortinate for a secured loan.
Sorry if this is depressing but I think you need to face up to the situation you are in and start trying to cut your debt rather than increase it.
Have to agree as well that your Bt/broadband seems very high, if you shop around I'm sure you can get a better deal.
I wish I could think of something more positive.

To be honest, even if you started the process NOW I doubt very much that you would get them back by the middle of August.......I recently finished my claim and it took me about 3 months.

Not wishing to be funny or anything but the money needed for a life or death situation or could you re-negotiate the payment date?

    Hi Tom,

I am also a bit confused over the secured loan. What is it secured on?

In order for us to help you properly we need all the facts. We aren't here to judge and we really do only have your best interests at heart, so please give us the full facts so we can help you. Remember we are (mostly) all in debt ourselves, so we do understand.

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for your great suggestions :) .
I just rung my loan company (loan is unsecure) and found out that they can reduce interest from 17.9% to 7.9% :T and my monthly payment would go down from £644.17 to £523 :j .The loan would be still paid in the same length of time. The insurance can't be cancelled but can be reduced. (I wonder if I could ask for these reductions every year. )
If I go for early settlement it would cost me £250.

    I feel better already. :j

thats great news!! So theyve jusrt sliced 10% off your interest rate just like that?

Tell us which bank it is, im sure others in a similar situation might well beenfit from this too :)

Can you let me know ( maybe by PM if you like) to tell me what the 1600 is for? I have a very open mind, and Id like to offer best advice confidentially as I can :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
