Using Tesco Clubcard vouchers for Hastings Hotels

Hi I think possibly you can go through select hotels to book the Malone lodge but I have never done this myself. I have been saving my clubcard vouchers for this exact thing so thank you for asking the question!0

I enquired about vouchers last September, was told by the Slieve Donard that it was £60 of vouchers for £240 of Hastings vouchers for 1 room for 1 night. I was told I could use 1` room for my family of 5 as one child was 3 and could go in a little bed, and was told we could stay one night midweek or weekend and that they were a lot more flexible than the T&C said. On this basis I changed my vouchers for Hastings vouchers. I phoned in November to book a room and was told they had changed their policy and that a) it would need to be for 2 nights and that b) it would need to be 2 rooms. This was going to be £960 of Hastings vouchers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was very annoyed as this was not the basis on which I changed my vouchers. I was told I was not the only one, that many were very annoyed. I was then told the Culloden had family rooms that would take 5 people and that we could stay for one night. I booked a room there on this basis although was very disappointed as we live the other side of Holywood and would be staying down the road rather than a nice break in the Mournes. When we arrived at the Culloden we had been upgraded to 2 adjoining rooms for free - why couldnt the Slieve Donard have done this, since we were flexible about when we could stay???? However the room was at the end of a corridor, with a heating vent outside, making the floor and chairs vibrate with the noise - it was outrageous. We complained and were offered a suite, but the 3 childrens beds would have to be placed in the living room area open plan to our sleeping area. Why couldnt the Slieve Donard have done this in the first place - we had been told they could not put 5 people in one suite for health and safety reasons!
I suppose my point is this -the rules appeared to be changed by one hotel but not another, and after I they would not uphold the basis on which I first exchanged my vouchers. We had a lovely break (and saw someone famous!!) but at the end of the day it wasnt what we wanted and felt we had opted for second best!Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0 -
I ordered Clubcard vouchers planning to book 2 nights in the Slieve Donard. And looking at their website saw that it was usually £100 per night. I got £110 worth of reward vouchers thinking I would only have to pay maybe £90 give or take. But when I phoned they informed my the Tesco reward rate is £300 for 2 nights. So really I've wasted my rewards vouchers by ordering them for Hastings, when I could have just paid their £200 rate online (as opposed to the £190 I have to pay to top up my vouchers) and forgot about the vouchers. Pointless!
Does anyone know if I can do anything about this? Complain? Switch my vouchers?0 -
I have stayed in the culloden (5 yrs ago) & it was fabulous!
I have stayed in the slieve donard (1 1/2 yrs ago) & the rooms, spa etc was great. However in my opinion & i nthe opinion of anyone I've asked, the food isn't great & the serving/waiting staff are pretty poor. The barman took approx 30 mins mixing me an absolutely rank cocktail because he didn't know how to make a mojito (it wasn't on his list.). Surroundings & all are lovely I would just eat in a different restaurant & find a different bar.1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100
MFW 2013 no. 62 £10,000/£10,000
MFW 2014 no 62 £8000/£70000 -

You can get them changed back to points and they will reappear on your next clubcard statement.:hello:0 -
i di the exact same, but as said , you can get them back again as vouchers, though depending on when you do it you may have to wait a couple of months. i.e. until your next clubcard rewards.think you have to ring them to do this for you. hth.
it does say in the T&C somewhere that the hotel will charge you the 'normal' b & b rate, so no complaint i'm afraid.0 -
I did stay in the Slieve Donard when we only had two children and therfore could book a family room. However after we had our third child they insisted that their policy would not allow us all to stay in one room and wanted us to book two rooms at a cost of £520 per night (for both).
Instead we booked the Silver Tassie in Donegal for £110 of vouchers per night for a huge family room which sleeps five. They had a free dvd library for the kids, free vouchers for the local leisure centre and their own spa. It wasn't as swish as the slieve donard, and if you can afford the SD I would recommend you try it as it was a beautiful hotel and we loved it, but the Silver Tassie was lovely for us and more accomodating for children IMO.0 -
How did you get Silver Tassie to take vouchers? Is this a Hastings Hotel?
