Hi,
We've booked a 5 day break to Pontins Southport in July but after reading some awful reviews on tripadvisor we're dreading going!
Does anyone have anything remotely positive to say about the place?

We went to Pontins Southport last year for a weekend and yes it is very basic and holiday camp looking old style chalets but very clean and we had a great weekend! Entertainment was very good once the bingo had finished LOL! Swimming pool basic but clean and warm! Also can really recomend eating in the restaurant/Bar inside by the night time entertainment room [stage] very nice food and cheap too!
Not really very much around outside Pontins we found but small fair etc and beach of course so go with an open mind and I hope you enjoy it !:beer:0 -
victorian town and the facilities at southport's pontins are very good and we had a 4 year old. the other half (men i find tend to be more fussy!) moaned a lot about the accommodation but even though this was average it was only a base which enabled us to visit liverpool and other areas. it was very cold when we went but still enjoyed it . the entertainment at pontins is very good anyway.Hi,

Cherylf3 - please do tell me how you get on in March. I too will be taking a small child with me so am concerned about the cleanliness issues.
Thanks for the responses so far x0 -
very basic, was clean, great beach round the side of the park.
i wouldn't go back, but entertainment was fun for the kids and that's important, right?0 -
i went with my friend last year, and i can tell you, im not usually fussy but our chalet was disgusting. she and i arrived there was pee in the toilets, all over the seat, the fridge had off food in it, and muddy footprints all over the floor.
we used to shut the curtains and drink a lot of beer haha to get rid of the memories.
we only stayed there after we moved chalets and cleaned the whole thing ourselves. sorry to disappoint but i would never ever go back0 -
Sorry to disappoint but it really is not a nice experience. The cleanliness is terrible - more around the fact that the facilities at Pontins are so old - carpets stained, settes smell.. i could go on. I am in no way a snob and have been on many £9.50 holidays but I would never go back to Southport Pontins - all in all Southport is a lovely place.0

filthy filthy place.. bedsz broken and gaps between the doors and windows.. take my advice and upgrade upgrade upgrade...
the kids had a ball tho and it is right close to liverpool which is fab for shopping!!
remember you will have to pay for your electric via a payment meter but you will get a booklet with quite a few good discounts for around the camp.
southport is beautiful and i reccomend eating at the restaraunt ajoining the premier inn..ab fab!!!0 -
have been to southport pontins many times, yes its very basic and you get what you pay for, but when we go we just use it as a base, southport itself is great. The best thing about Southport is the entertainment, one of my friends is the assistant entertainment manager, so have to give her a good plug!!!You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0
