weekend break in Lakes/North?

Hi

I'm looking to book a 3 night break in the lakes or somewhere in the North in September. It's for 2 adults and a baby, but all the things I've found so far have been quite expensive as they are based on more people... any suggestions?

Thanks

There is a fab hotel in the lake district called the derwentwater hotel, you can rent a cottage or stay in the actual hotel.

They have large grounds where you can walk down to the lake, its about a 15 min walk to the nearest town. The staff are helpful and the food is great,

    the website is http://www.derwentwater-hotel.co.uk/home.html

We are going to the Ambleside Youth Hostel, set on the shores of Lake Windermere. It's been recommended to us as a good family hostel. £20 per night for adults and they have cots. You can cook your own meals there or eat in the restaurant.

They do pick ups from the train station. https://www.yha.org.uk

We stayed at Rocklea cottage. Very reasonably priced. Ideal location for central Ambleside with a private parking space.

First time we had been away since the birth of out daughter and were slightly worried, but she absolutely loved it !

Owners of the cottage live next door and were very helpful. They provided use with a high chair free of charge and thin they also had a cot although we took a travel cot

Ambleside is lovely location with traditional buildings yet with loads to do.
    Lovely shops and restaurants.
Some of the previous suggestions for accomodation seem very reasonably priced.
If you'r looking for cheap days out while there go to Brockhole which is on Lake Windermere near to Ambleside. Admission free with lovely grounds, walk by the Lake, picnic grounds, viistor centre and large play area. All you pay for is car parking.
Also in Ambleside municipal park with tennis, bowling, pitch and putt, crazy golf - all very reasonable. Ideal if baby is asleep.
We have a caravan near Grange and always go to Ambleside whenever we are on holiday there.
    Regards
