Wrongly accused of Stealing

Hi,
I am worried at the moment, as I have wrongly been accused of stealing from my workplace.
There was a small amount missing from the cash box in the office, however everyone has access to it.
It went missing on one day, when I was accused then the next day it returned, however they are persuing it even though I have left that branch of the company.
I feel that it is possibly another member of staff setting me up as I was moving up the ladder and out of that branch and they wanted this position too.
Also it was them who contacted my manager to tell them money was missing when I was not in the building.
My manager immediatly found me and confronted me and I started stuttering as I was caught unawares and it felt as if she was accusing me.
I would like to add that I have worked for this company for just under 10 years and never had a problem.
I had just recieved a promotion which meant relocating and I would not jeopardize this for a small amount of money.
Does anyone know my rights and what I can do??
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

After your confrontation with your manager, what did she tell you? Did she accuse you of stealing the money during your confrontation with her or not? If yes, seek the advice of an attorney, and let them handle the matter. Don't do anything on your own without a lawyer. You'll just screw things up. And DO NOT communicate in any way with your employer or anyone else about this matter except through your lawyer.
Unless they did tell you that you were the one who stole the money, just act normal. You know you did nothing wrong.Mr. Mulla0 -

That's pretty bad; but you say everyone has access to the cash box so surely everyone must be a suspect. Unless the person who accused you has die-hard proof they saw you do it how can they possibly accuse you? To be honest I think your instincts may be right and they are hoping to scupper your chances of moving on and up. However, this can't be directly proved either really. Where were you on the day of the theft, your post is a bit confusing (or I'm being thick!) If you say you were not in the building that day then why have you been accused?
At this point, maybe give ACAS a call, or go the the CAB. Your manager has talked to you, but at this point there is no direct suspension coming your way. So just get yourself informed of what you can do if they decide to push this matter further with you. And if they do decide to suspend you, then always come back here, I'm not very knowledgeable myself but there are some great people on here to advise. Hope things go okay for youDo good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....0 -
There surely is more to this.
Why exactly was it you who they accused and not the others?0 -

Theres no explaination of this in her post.
She is trying to say she was set up by a bitter colleague who reported missing money then put it back. Allegations she has no proof of.
There is also no explaination as to why senior management though decided it was her and not anyone else with access or are we to believe there all in on the big conspiracy?0 -

So instead of the attorney I mentioned, she can seek the advice of CAB or ACAS.Mr. Mulla0 -

And you're trying to say she's guilty. Allegations of which you have no proof.0 -

No but I do think the reason she has been accuseed and no one else is very relevant and is either a major positive or negative for her.
If for no reason they have accused her and assumed its no one else she has a major argument in her favour.
If they have reason to do so then this would be relevent to know in giving advice.0 -
Everyone. Stop bickering like children. \
Now. Simply ask them to put up (with proof ) or shut up.
Also advise you are considering sueing for slander. If they instigate official disciplinary then this will be better, then you'll have it in writing and can sue for libel.whinge intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.0
