Hi
I got a phone call on Tuesday from a company called 'tpl Companies House'. I was told that they wanted to refund money owed to me, to do with two loans I had in the past. I was told I had to provide my debit card details to them befor they could send out documents that I should sign and send back. Then I would recieve my refund. I asked why they needed it and I was told something like "its for the paper work" and ID reasons. In the end I said I would like to check a few things out befor I do anything and to call back tomorrow.I checked the name out online and couldnt find them,I thought they were a company working for or with Frizzle/Black horse, who I took my loan out with. Anyway the next day I got another call from them. When I asked for it to be put in writing I was told they dont do that. Then I was told the reason they needed my debit card number was because there would be a £59 cost for the paperwork..It turned out they are a law firm. When I said Im not give my details the woman was rude and said "you wont get your money back then" and cut me off. I did call them back to find out what was going on and complain about being cut off. More of the same..Can anyone advise please!

Do not go anywhere with this company or and other claims company. You can claim these back yourself. Never ever give any details over the phone or e mail about account number debit/credit card numbers etc etc. Next time they ring get a whistle and blow it as hard as you can into the mouth piece.

    Good Luck

Yes you can do it through this site. Most of these claims firms have to send through the FOS anyway.

If you would like guidance let us know.

  • Thanks! Do you know how they might have got my details and wether they broke any Trading Standard laws. Im concerned they might not
even have been who they said they were.I couldnt find them online.
For all I know it could be a scam.

if they ring back ask for their claims management regulation number (should start CRM.....) and how they got you number - under claims management regulations they shouldn't 'cold call' anyone - say you'll check them out and ask for their number - tell them you don't want anyone to call you back as if you're interested you'll call them, but you're not likely to go with any claims management company who wants an up front fee
