Old childrens shoes

Does anyone know of any charities that take childrens shoes ? I have several pairs that my daughter has outgrown and I'd like them to go to a good cause. Ideally I'd like to send them to abroad Africa but have no idea where to begin.

at my local recycling point, there is a salvation army bin
or some shoe shops have bins in store to put old shoes in (in pairs)smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....
