I do lots of travelling and need an external hard drive, 500mb would do the job nicely but I would consider larger ones if its a good deal.
Requirements:
Small
its for travelling so the smaller the better
Lightweight is essential.
a nice price tag
Has anyone out there found one for similar use that they can recommend?
Many thanks.

Thanks for that, but, at that size (Product Dimensions: 207.08mm x 125.91mm x 39.79mm) and that Weight: 1.02kg - there are much smaller and lighter products on the market at a similar price.0 -

basically anything advertised as 2.5" or USB powered will do you fine, western digital are one of a number of reliable established brands.
Another option would be to just buy a £8 odd USB drive caddy and use an old drive from a laptop of you have one kicking around. But that'd probably not be as big as 500GB and if you don't have a spare drive to hand buying drive + caddy separately probably won't give you much benefit over getting a complete one...

if you really need it to be small try this Freecom one (or the 500GB version of the same-friend of mine has a few of these). v small and good if you need to carry several round with you, just be careful around dust + liquids as the rubber glove isn't completly sealed
