Thinking of buying a new ford. Anyone had any experiences with Drive the Deal. They seem to have some good offers. Usually buy from main dealer but their prices seem a bit of a rip off!

Previous threads about drive the deal seem to think they`re OK

Also try this site,a relative bought from them with no hassle:
    http://www.autobytel.co.uk/

Both the above are only "middle men" who pass you on to a main dealer who sorts your order out.

Take the Ford Mondeo for example, fantastic car... fantastic depreciation.
Ford Mondeo Hatchback 2.2 TDCi 175 Zetec 5dr bought for what car target price price £23234, worth £7011 trade in 3 years later loosing £16223.
BMW 3 Series Touring 320d SE 5dr bought for what car target price £28465, worth £12610 trade in 3 years later loosing £15855.
You could probably do better than these target prices.

For the Mondeo to genuinely be £5231 cheaper than the similar spec. BMW you need to be able to buy it brand new for £18000.

Another option is let a leasing company get the discount for you and pass the saving on the the form of lower lease payments. Found a quote for the above Moneo including VAT and road tax it's £13490 over 36 months.
So you need a discount of over £3000 to break even with leasing.

A 1 year old or pre-reg Mondeo could get a tasty discount.

May be you were looing for something smaller like a Focus of Fiesta, but the situation will be similar. Drive the deal and broadspeed - I've read reports from happy customers so see what they can do for you. I've also managed to beat their openly advertised prices by a wide margin negotiating direct with my local dealer though.

Drive the deal source their cars from uk main dealers so in theory the dealers should be able to match or at least get close one they know you have done your research.

I`ve just out of interest priced up a fiesta zetec with all three mentioned on here and DtheD was the cheapest and broadspeed the dearest.

Ultimately you will still be buying from a main dealer. AFAIK Drivethedeal simply acts as a broker and puts you in touch with dealer that's offering the best deal.

How about buying it for £16,500? That's the drivethedeal price, £17,500 if you don't take the Ford finance.

We have used drivethedeal, the local dealer wouldn't come near their price.
  • Have used DTD and would recomend - all they did was pass my order on to an Audi dealer and I dealt direct with them. Didnt part with any cash to DTD, and local dealers could not get near their price.
