SONY NWE103 256Mb - Help with MP3s Please!

I recently bought my little daughter a Sony MP3 player and have struggled to work out how to download tracks onto it. I have followed various instructions such as syncing with Windows Media Player but I keep getting a message on the MP3 player saying "No data". When I explore the F drive on my computer it tells me there are songs on the MP3 player so what's going on? Am I missing a vital step somewhere? I did also download the Sonic Stage software which the instruction manual said I needed but that made no difference at all. Should I just give up and buy a more user friendly MP3 player? I hate it when these silly things defeat me, grrr.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Have you checked that the songs are not copy protected?
If you got the songs by ripping from CDs, open Windows Media Player and go to tools on the top menu bar (if you can't see a top menu bar, press alt and one will appear), then click options and go to Rip Music. If "Copy Protect Music" is checked, I'm afraid you will need to rip your tracks from the CDs again (well, there are others ways around it, but that is probably the easiest). Deselect that for the future.0 -
Have you tried to use Sonic Stage to transfer the mp3s?0

Hey, thanks guys. I have clicked on the Sonic Stage shortcut and gone into the My Library menu. I have now figured out how to transfer the tracks from My Library to the MP3 player. Such a complicated way of doing things but at least I know how to do it now

I also managed to copy a Horrid Henry CD onto the MP3 player. At least I won't have to listen to it; I can't stand the programme.0

Pleased to hear you have got it working. My daughter had a Sony where I had to use Sonicstage - a right pain. She has now got another Sony one much more upmarket - it just uses copy and paste - wonderful.0

Trust me to get the complicated version. Which MP3 player did you get for your daughter? Maybe I can upgrade to that in the future :beer:0 -
It is NWZ-S639F 16gb - just right for lots and lots of Horrid Henry's !!0

Does Sonic Stage still exist? I believe Sony scrapped that some years ago and that all their players were drag and drop MTP.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

I downloaded Sonic Stage yesterday when the MP3 manual told me I needed the CD Rom which of course I didn't have. The manual was diabolical and didn't help me at all. I don't know why it told me to sync with Windows Media Player because that didn't fix the problem at all. I had to download MP3 files to my computer then import them into Sonic Stage and then tranfer them to the MP3 player. I hope my daughter is very, very appreciative; that's all I can say. And grrr yes, there's lots of room for dratted Horrid Henry too.0
