    Fill a spray bottle with water and add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil. It's a lovely fragrance that should get rid of the bad smell. Added bonus is that it also has antiseptic properties.

    I used some eucalyptus oil today and it really freaked the cat out when he smelt it.

    You can buy a special spray that kills the smell (not just masking it) and removes any staining. Try your local vet or pet store - it is called TOTALCARE.

    Not strictly old-style money saving, in fact it is quite expensive - but it does work!
