3 bags of shopping for 5 pounds - ideas?

I've just signed up to do a mystery shopper assignment at a well known supermarket this weekend.

They will pay me 5 pounds towards my shopping so ideally I'd like to fill the 3 bags with 5-6 pounds of shopping so that that in essence the shopping will be free! I've already done my weekly shop this week!

Any ideas for what shopping I could get for 5 pounds that will come in useful?

Hi leni, i would get lots of longlife staples. Tinned toms, beans, tuna etc. Dried lentils, pasta, rice, flour etc. I'd also look out for deals on frozen goods.

Economy toilet roll, kitchen roll, and washing powder will be big and bulky. Also dried dog food and cat litter. A BIG bag of potatoes and onions will last a long time.

id probably buy milk 6pts 1.62
    value cheese 1.00
    soda crystals 51p
    white vinegar 63p
    cooking apples 4 for 1.30
    value plain flour 21p
    value sr flour 21p

thats around £5.50 and im sure it would fill three bags
  • I agree with gwinnie.

    Beans
    Tinned Toms
    Tuna
    Sweetcorn
    Kidney beans
    Pasta
    Rice
    Soup
    Bread (freeze)
    Cheese(freeze)
    milk(freeze)

If you go later in the evening, you could nab quite a few yellow stickered items-depending on where your going of course. How exciting! Do you get paid on top of that or is that the pay?

    Sorry, being nosey!

oohh, thank you some good ideas there!

I always need tin toms and beans and always think I have them in when I don't! Also need some tom sauce and salad cream!

Flour too, as I need to bake my birthday cake lol also I forgot to buy some dog biscuits!

Also need some finger rolls as I found 2 tins of hot dogs in the cupbaord last night!

Pasta always comes in handy too!

This is gonna be easier than I though - thank you!

I get paid 13 pounds plus 5 pounds towards my shopping - so 18 pounds in total - to make a few observations

I have also done this paticular mystery shop...sometimes they ask for your receipt details inc total spend.

So might get a bit shirty if it didnt equate to a three bag shop iykwim

    hope this helps
  • How do I find out about doing this? Sounds very interesting.
    Thanks

If you have a freezer, bread that's been reduced is bulky and quite handy to have as a standby.

I'm sorry, I just had this really stupid thought "But staples are metal, they won't go off......." before I realised what you meant. :o :rotfl:
