I bought lentils for the first time in my life.

Never bought or cooked them before.

Got an idea to make soup with them........

I bought red ones - are these the common garden variety ones?

What do you put lentils in?

I use lentils in soups and curries and also sometimes to bulk out other things like shepherds pie. I use the red ones and just put them in with whatever I'm cooking until they are soft.

I guess they would be good to make a soup more filling. I want to start making them again & take them to work.

Oh yes they do make soup more filling as they are full of protien :) they are tasty too, at least I enjoy them. You can make a nice soup with some fried off onions then add curry powder, lentils and water for a curried dahl type soup, yum!

I have added the red lentils to lasagne, green ones to curry, chilli - basically most mince dishes.
