Im asking this question on behalf of my mum. My mum studied part time with Queens University Belfast and obtained a BA Hons. She then decided to do a part time masters in Irish Immigration. She was paying for all of it herself but due to my dads business going belly up she is not able to afford it any more. She has completed the first year. She took a year out due to stress in relation to my dad etc. She now wants to complete her masters but need £1000 to pay for the fees. She doesn't work due to problems with her back, hasn't in years. She is 59 so is doing for personal as opposed to professional reasons.
She needs to raise at least £500 asap. Can anyone suggest any ways to get funding? Due to my dad her credit rating is !!!!!!ed no one will lend her a penny. She is unable to even get a job to help pay and as much as i would love to i cannot give her the money for it. It means a lot for her and after all she has been through to lose the chance to do her masters could send her to the funny farm.
Any help much appreciated.

There may well be payment schemes available if she asks the university and explains her situation. I'm not sure if university funds (hardship grants/loans etc) are available to part-time postgraduates, but could look into it. Then there is the possibility of a career development loan, but this probably isn't ideal.
There really isn't much funding at all for masters students, I'm afraid.0 -
Has she belongings she could sell on Ebay? could anyone in the family offer her a loan?0

The best people to talk to are Queen's Student Guidance centre. They're worth their weight in gold! Just go up the stairs to the right og the book shop.*insert witty comment here*0
