Your specialist should be able to recommend an appropriate treatment.
The NICE Guidelines are Herniated (or prolapsed) lumbar discs here
however there are other specialists who take a different view regarding surgical intervention an example of which is here THE LUKLINSKI CLINIC
however you pays your money and the choice is yours (that's assuming you have the money)
The article here Clinical Evaluation and Treatment Options for Herniated Lumbar Disc summarises the arguements but only those who have examined the MRI scans will have the knowledge to make an informed decision. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Hi. 8 years ago I had an MRI scan I had 2 bulging discs and alot of degeneration in lower spine ( have been a nurse for 22 years) operations and corsets and phsio and rest were all discussed. After spending weeks in bed and going to physio etc I was in agony. i found my own solution loads and loads of exercise, gardening, and even digging in small quantities at first, lengthening over time. I dont have a back problem anymore and keep my activity levels high. I don't nurse anymore but not because of this I took career change. I hope this helps, but just a word of caution this is my experience and may not be the right course for you, you have to listen to your body and do what you think is right.0
