I have looked for it on the device manager and its disappeared
I have uninstalled and re installed the drivers loads of times now but that doesnt work either
I searched the net for people with similar problems and it appears to be a common problem with no solution, something to do with the motherboard eek
Does anyone here have any suggestions or how to fix it OR seeing as the webcam wasnt that brilliant , have a suggestion for a good quality webcam, I dont want to just go out and buy the most expensive to find out later I could have saved myself loads of beer tokens
many thanks

I once had this problem on an Asus netbook until I installed the latest chipset driver update (not just the webcam driver) and a BIOS update - there was some kind of problem with the USB controller.0

i will have to try updating all my drivers, i guess im just about to install driver max again lol
weirdly, when i bought a cheap ten pound usb laptop and plugged it in, the built in webcam started working again for a few days...but now its stopped again
but thank you, it is certainly worth a try installing and updating my other drivers0 -
Have you checked the Acer support website rather than just relying on driver max? In particular, BIOS updates would not be installed by driver max.0

thank you, i will try their website now
I just bought this acer after my first died after about 2 years, i just worryingly read another thread on here about how bad acer are...whoops too late for me lol
I will try updating the bios from the acer site...if not,i will then try and find out what is the best webcam.....its only for my kids lol, they love talking to themselves, its hilarious.....but i want to get a good quality webcam i think....unfortunately i dont know which make is best...someone suggested logitech or creative on the web, does anyone have any thoughts?
thanks again0 -
Before doing the BIOS update, I should point out that there is always a slight risk of something going wrong and then the computer would not work. I have never actually seen this happen (or met anyone to whom it has happend), but it is supposed to be possible. Please ensure that the laptop is plugged in and not running on its battery when you do it!0

I read the warnings, decided to take a risk, prayed that i had got it right, i was thinking here i go, i am going to break a month old laptop because I cant resist messing about
guess what?

I'm glad it worked! That was certainly the most enthusiastic thank you message I have received on here! Hopefully it will carry on working and won't decide to stop again...0
