It seems I have to share with you all my daily deliverys from Royal Mail, This one is rather worrying though.
I have just recieved some mail from Lloyds TSB giving me an internet banking password. Only, I don't have any dealings with Lloyds at all. I don't have a Lloyds credit card (which seems to be what this letter is refering to) or bank account and I certainly haven't applied for one. I would find it amazing with my credit record if someone had managed to open an account in my name (and why would they knowing the mail would come to me?)
I have also recieved a letter from SMS (Secure mail services) saying they were unable to arrange delivery of a secure item of mail. I have requested re-delivery for tomorrow. The only times I have had mail from them is when credit cards are delivered.
I tried calling Lloyds just now but they were really unhelpful because I didn't know the account password. They asked me to put my request in writing. I tried to log in to the internet bank site with the reference number but it then asked me for a card number, which of course I don't have.
This is just odd. Who on earth would pass me on a credit check, I have defaults all over the place. The only thing related to Lloyds I have ever had was a black horse loan (paid off 2 years ago).
Has anyone ever had anything like this happen?

No but I'd be equally concerned - maybe try ringing them again and refusing to get off the phone until they help you? Start talking about internet fraud in loud tones etc etc and accepting no liability?
Hopefully its something and nothing though. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Advice them that you haven't applied for any account and if someone else has in your name then it's a fraud issue and you will have to inform the police... then call the police and report the problem to them as possible fraud.
Ultimately unless they have your signature on the paper work you can't be held liable for any funds that go missing especially if you have notified them of the possibility of fraud before any instance takes place

Morning TOTO....
Id do what Jess says, call them and ask for a manager or the fraud dept straight away. we used to get this all the time at the bank.
Hope you are well

Oh my, that's worrying isn't it?!
Definitely call them and don't be intimidated, if it is fraud the sooner they can put a stop on the card the better.
Although quite how the fraudsters would get any money if the card etc is sent to you I don't know :rotfl:
But still, be a persistent customer, don't let them fob you off until they've done something about it!!!
Good luck

Actually, you might find that this is a MARKETING tool
My lodger had one of these, from a Ltsb Credit card, saying thanks for your aplication (she hadnt made one) and so on. It was marketing. Shes going for compensation for misuse of her data she said. Might be worth looking into. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I have just got off the phone with Lloyds. This is unreal. It seems that as I once had a black horse loan they have decided to send me a Lloyds credit card, totally out of the blue. So, my conversation went like this.
Them - we have given you a credit card with a new limit to equal your old loan (6,500)
Me- But I don't want it so cancel it right away.
Them- We can't cancel it over the phone, wait until your new card arrives and then write in. We can reduce the limit slightly, or why don't you keep it for emergencies as we have a competitive interest rate of 13.9%!!
Me- Are you listening? I didn't ask for this and I don't want your debt card, and for the record I don't call 13.9% competitive.
Them- Well, as I have explained you need to get the card and then write to us requesting a cancellation.
Me- How about if I inform you I am now on a DMP? I have defaulted on 3 credit cards and 2 loans, do you still want me to have this card?
Them- We try to be sympathetic to our customers banking needs
Me- This is totally irresponsible lending, I will be informing the banking ombusdman of this conversation, which incidentally I have been recording as I felt there may be some fraud involved.
Them- Ok, Ms Toto, I will put a block on your card so it can't be used.
Me- I want it cancelled and off my credit record.
Them- Thank you very much for your call... line goes dead.
I am actually furious. It feels like every day I am being subjected to some kind of crap from some company or another. Surely this can't be legal. Am I destined to be on a lifetime crusade against these companies? Today I feel like the chosen one!
I am still fighting my way through the Habbo hotel nonsense, I have crap from the CSA involving my local MP, now it seems I need to make a formal complaint against Lloyds. Sigh.:A

Well done you for standing up to them and not just taking what they said :T
It is shocking that they would decide to send you a card just like that, very irresponsible as you say!
Good luck making a formal complaint if you do decide to, all these things are hard work but hopefully some good will come of these fights in the end

Take strength from this. I hope Im not out of order in saying its probably not that long ago you may have just spent it ( I would have too ,BTW
)
My calling the ombusdman and letting them know a) this may prevent somebody more vulerable getting them selves into trouble, b) the brainbox who came up with this illegal scheme doesnt get the bonus they think they might c) that you might be entitled to some sort of compensation.
I think you have a duty to let the FSA know at least as this is probably not legal. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

That sounds dodgy to me too - cant be right. It sounds totally irresponsible - and making you think that someone has been fraudulently using your account too. Definitely a complaint time me thinks. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0

Lyn, you hit the nail on the head. I did congratulate myself because just a few months ago I would have seen this as some kind of lifeline. It's amazing how much we can learn and change in a short while, isn't it. But yes that 'marketing' or whatever you want to call is is awful, someone who hasn't had their lightbulb moment would just end up in deeper poo.
I have to say for a nano-second I considered withdrawing all the money and putting it in savings and adding TSB to my full and final offers list as an, I told you not to lend me this money lesson LOL, but that is illegal and immoral and I am better than that. So, I shall be writing another letter of complaint... it seems to be my second job these days! Thanks guys for being there once again... I wonder what tomorrow's post will bring?:A
