Letter from Santander chasing funds repayment

Hi

Today I received a letter from Santander saying I owed them £1,500 re an amount put into my account in June 2008- 'recent investigations have indicated that the sum was credited to your account incorrectly'

The letter was asking me to contact them to arrange payment back to Santander.

I phoned them up, knowing that this was incorrect (I had an issue with them around the time with regards to cancelling an ISA and the whole thing had been messed up, resulting in £20 compensation I think it was).

The person I spoke to said they had been asked to chase up but had no information. It took one click to review my accounts that I used to have with them and the credit that matched with it was found.

The guy was very apologetic, but this should have been looked into before the letter was sent.

I cancelled my accounts with Abbey/Santander after the ISA issues I had, and this letter just reinforces how bad I think they are.

Just wanted to post this in case anyone else receives a letter along the same lines.

They were not called Shabbey for nothing.

What should we call the Santander muppets?
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
