pensioners and PPI

my mum took out a loan in 2007, I went with her and it took over 2 hours because the salesperson was not going to let her out without taking out ppi, I kept telling her she didn't need it.

In the end the salesperson told her that if anything happened to her or her husband they would be covered, unfortunately my dad died in march last year and when she rang they said he wasn't on the policy so they wouldn't pay out.

I've been looking through the PPI information and I'm making an assumption here which I am hoping someone can confirm is true.

the policy was missold to her, because she doesn't need it as a pensioner, as she won't be made unemployed, if she does have an accident it won't matter coz she doesn't work.

if she drops down dead tomorrow, who can they claim it off ?

I am really cross and my mum is not happy about ringing them and they won't talk to me coz it's not my loan.

Just the fact that salesperson told your mum and dad that they both would be covered is enough for a complaint about misselling. If it now seems that it would never have covered your mum either (was it PPI for unemployment or just death cover!!) then you have a complaint also. I would see whether it actually covers death or death and unemployment too and if it does then it seems like a complaint may be in order.

    Good luck
