As you say old hands disregarded the sig, but his very bucolic and central conceit full of expressed prejudice circumnavigating the wishes of those in power was only ever going to be a short rehearsal for the inevitable.

100% agree, it wasn't asininity's nym / sig in general but his sig line in the particular, it was clear that 100's of people were going to complain.

Of course not Brenda, I well remember his sig line, I'm sure hundreds of others do also. It didn't bother me, you or others but clearly it did, as it was always intended to, provoke others !
