Changing from prepayment to credit meter

We recently managed to get our prepayment gas meter swapped to a credit meter and I have absolutely no idea how it works, or what it means (thicko alert). I have searched but still don't fully understand it.

Also managed to get it onto a better tariff (or so they say)

This is the tariff

(Npower) Spreading Warmth Standard:

Unit rate, upto and including 4572 kWh per year - 5.612p Inc VAT
Unit rate, over 4572 kWh per year - 2.507p Inc VAT

Is this right? They've set a DD up for £30 a month also, which is a saving of £50 per month as it is!

We've had the prepayment meter nearly two years and the meter reading is: 1462.006 m3

Also been paying debt off at £3 a week aswell, which is cleared now.

Any help appreciated! :T
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

Hi Rick, I would be intrested to know who you are with as per KWh does seem very cheep.
I do not know what a credit meter is, would it be a standard house meter?
Are the unit rates for both gas and electric?
With more info MSE's can give a better responce...
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

The credit meter (which is a typical meter a customer has that receives bills as opposed to a pre-payment meter) is simply a device that measures the consumption.

You will then be billed based on the consumption recorded at the applicable rate.

Edit: note that with gas, the meter will probably record cubic metres or possibly 100's of cubic feet; this is used to calculate the quantity of kWh - the bill will explain how this has been done.
