I having a debt collection agency hasseling me for money from my daughters old nursery that she went to over 2 years again. They sent me a letter about a month ago asking me to contact them to pay outstanding balance of £2500.00. My daughter left this nursery around over 2 years ago and I was knew i owned them money but wrote a letter in stating I was happy with the care my daughter received from the nursery and i felt that the standard was very poor and explained that i was having money difficulties as my duaghters father had just walked out on us and left me with now money and debts to pay. I wrote offering a repayment plan, and heard nothing back until this letter landed on my door from the debt collectoin agency. The orginal debt was for less then £1000.00. They debt agency have told me the nursery jave but a CCJ against my name - which i am confused about as i wrote to then with a repayment plan and heard nothing back till not.
The agency are ring my neighbours confirming my address and really hasseling me - please help what can I do

Hi Pinkspots
As said to you before on this post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2266151 you need to find out about the CCJ.
So first you need a copy of your credit report (you can get the report for £2 from equifax or experian). http://www.experian.co.uk/wiseconsumer/
Then you'll be able to find out when a CCJ was granted and you may be eligible to get the CCJ set aside (if you were never sent court papers or know nothing about this debt). http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=12_how_to_set_aside_a_judgment_in_the_county_court
It is important to do this as if there is a CCJ and you still have not paid then baliffs could be appointed.
So find out when the CCJ was granted, at what court and for what amount.
As an aside you can report the DCA for ringing your neighbours but at the moment I'd suggest your priority is to tackle the CCJ.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
