Could someone help me with some French please?

I need to send an email to France, but while my spoken French is basic but passable, I have not written anything in the language since I left school! I have been told I can write in English, but out of politeness I would like to begin in French. This is what I would like to say:

I am sorry but my written French is poor, so I hope you don't mind if I continue in English. Many thanks.

Possibly a good idea, I once translated a room request into Catalan and got back a lengthy and enthusuiastic response - in Catalan.

I always use Babelfish for translations, its a bit hit and miss but usually gets the point across.

Note that the site software won't allow an e-acute, so I've highlighted where they should be in red, and made a couple of other minor corrections.

And the ! stands for e-acutes in that one.

Dictionary.com's translator gives me almost this:

Honest, it says Many thanks! And it also says 'je vais poursuivre' rather than 'je continue', but I think their suggestion is very stilted.

You pays your money and you takes your choice! but note that in my version, if you are female, it is d!sol!e with that extra e on the end. also I think you could replace cela with ça.
