Not sure why you are slagging off these places, these are the homes and a little piece of England for a great many decent and pleasant people who no doubt are proud of where they live. It is not normally like you Cleaver icon9.gif

Apologies if it came accross that way Stevie, I certainly didn't mean to comment on the people who reside in these places and I'm sure all the areas I listed have their cultural and social highlights that people enjoy.

However, I used to live in Coventry and lets not beat around the bush, it isn't a particulary pleasant place. Sure, if you look hard enough there are nice bits, but on the whole if you had to chose a place to live anywhere in the developed (or even some of the undeveloped world) would Coventry be very high up your list? Decades of bad planning, poor building and very little thought in to the asthetics of the place has meant it has, generally, become a bit of a dump. And from what I've seen of them, the other places on my list are quite similar.

Sorry, I should have added to this that the main point I was trying to make was that we're not really in the position of saying that other people's countries are a 'dump', rather than trying to slag off the places I listed. I know people (including myself) like our fair nation, but we're not exactly the Beverley Hills of Europe are we?

When they do the Godiva ride through the streets does the lady playing Godiva get her kit off :o

To keep it on topic Lady Godiva was a prominent supporter of lower taxes icon7.gif in fact that was why she made that famous horse ride.

As someone who is Coventry born and bred and was given the freedom of the city for a selfless act* last year I'd like to stand up for the 'borough' as we locals call it. It was bad enough when they closed the fisheries and now this. Anyway, as we like to say round here, "see you Jimmy and may your van's sump go wrong".

*selfless act. Gave artifical respiration to a young lady for several minutes until she managed to struggle free. Injunction prevents me from saying more about the story.

As for evidence to show what a lovely place Coventry is, have a look at the local crime statistics:
    http://www.upmystreet.com/local/crime-in-coventry.html

Above the national average (VI alert) in every single category.

Sounds like a lovely place to live Nutrisse

Croydon is a real meat market. The women there are predatory.
Men need to be on their guard, else they get taken advantage of.

I was once working in Croydon for the week when I had a job working away in loads of different places. I'm not really one for drinking or eating out alone every night - I'd go for a curry every now and again, but at least half the time I'm get takeaway. I never went for a drink alone as it just bored me. Anyway, there was a Champion's League game on one night so I went down the bar to watch it. I sat at the bar wacthing one of the screens and very attractive older woman (late thirties - I was mid-twenties at the time) started chatting with me. I'm a friendly sort and although it did strike me as weird that she was being very flirty I was okay just chatting with her. After about half an hour it was if a virtual fog lifted from my eyes and I spotted a couple very attractive women all chatting to businessmen in this hotel bar. It was at this point that I realised that she probably charged for services and made my hasty retreat. Had to miss the second half though, which I was a bit gutted about.

It was the Jury's Inn, Croydon for anyone who likes that type of thing.
