    Yes you can.
    Stewed Apples

10 apples 3/4 cup water 1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice, or 1/8, teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon
Cook sugar and water together until it boils.
Wash, pare, and cut apples into quarters, core, and slice quarters lengthwise into 1/4 inch slices; put apple slices into boiling syrup and cook slowly until tender. Remove slices of apple. Add lemon juice to syrup, boil a few minutes and serve over apples. Sprinkle with nutmeg if desired. Serves 10 to 12.

You may not need these quantities!!!

Claire - if they're eating apples you don't need to stew them first - just chunk and lay in the dish, a good sprinkle of sugar and a squirt of lemon juice (if you've got it), a teaspoon of water and pop the crumble on top - they'll cook down really quickly. (you can add chopped banana in with the apples too if you need to use some up)

Does anyone know the address of that website where you put in what's in your kitchen cupboard and it tells you what you can make out of it?
