Is it possible to use the cigarette car lighter to charge a samsung laptop - have seen some devices but very pricy.

Yes. You could use an inverter, then you could plug in any mains operated equipment up to 300 watts (including laptop chargers)Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

Good option, but be aware that apparently this uses a lot more petrol when you use an inverter.0 -
