BT charges me 2 months at one go?

Just got my first BT bill, finally, on there they are charging me for last month and a month in advance, is that normal for their first bill? Anyhow, I am just not happy with how messy they are.

Thanks

Yes, rental charges are always in advance and, obviously, calls in arrears.

However, at the start of provision, the charge for the first month's line rental has to be in arrears and, of course, will be additional to the (in advance) charge for the next month.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Why BT charge for line rental in advance? I find it much more predictable with companies like Tiscali and TT where you pay one payment for everything. Why BT has such a complex system?

All the companies you mentioned charge in this way. I'm unaware of any firm that will only bill for their line rental in arrears.

Its doubly confusing this month due to the extra VAT payable from last month!
