As a call centre rep in a power company I am faced with the daily moans and groans of customers. I am a customer too and I completely agree with "some" of the complaints from customers. However was gets me is when someone swears at you and makes a racist remark even though my skin colour is white. Next time you call any call centre the person you speak to is only doing their job and if the person isnt doing their job ask to speak to their manager.
I have read some of the threads on here last night and couldnt stop laughing at some, as for the customers of my company, I wish I could see your accounts and sort them out with some of the problems you have been having.
The customers who want compensation for lifting up a handset then get a life. You will only get compensation if the company breaks their guaranteed standards. It will be £20....I can assure you if get more then you are very lucky.
Customers who are in debt and wonder why their dd is going up, then it is because you have never paid enough. My favourite is online customers who told us their consumption (what they thought it should be) and then wonder 6 months later why they have a bill thats high in debt. When you switch supplier tell us your annual KWH for gas and electricity from your bills and we will work out your dd, it will probably be close to what your current supplier would like to increase it to. People! £30 for gas and £20 for electricity is not enough these days....unless you can prove it with your annual consumption. Oh and yeah, the summer never clears a balance of about £200 as many people seem think.
As for refunds, the reason why you are in credit in the summer is not only becuase your consumption is lower but to avoid a winter debt, its probably better to keep the credit on your account...a pain I know.
Please do not reply back with abuse or sarcastic remarks I get enough of them on the phone.
Many thanks,
Scot_lad1982

I've just increased my online dual fuel direct debit with Powergen to £100 pcm.
I have also been on a helpdesk (town planning not power!), so I know what it's like!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I know its sore £100 would be better off stocking the fridge or down the pub. I so hope prices will go down, they need to, people wont be able to heat their houses in 5 years at this rate.0

i say thank you - as i understand the abuse you get for doing your job, you don't make the rules0

I'm hoping my £100 pcm will avoid huge bills in the winter. My house is lived in by my son and two lodgers, so as well as the heating, the cooker is on for three separate meals, the washing machine is on for three separate washes..also the lodgers' rooms are heated and I didn't bother heating them when we lived there just as a family. So it will be more expensive. Lodgers' rents cover most of the bills though, and my son pays the rest.
I've only recently changed to Powergen and haven't had a bill yet.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

You should be ok with £100, it won't be long till Pgen tell you to decrease your dd, but better safe than sorry is what I say.0

Personally I love a scottish accent, I wouldn't be rude to you. I also pay £100 a month.0

I think I may have just changed FROM the OP's company! :rotfl:
I'm also glad other people pay £100 pcm. Some friends of mine with a three bed house say they only pay that much a quarter!

barking up the wrong tree :rotfl:
as for 100 a quarter...yes these people do exist, they turn off everything when the finish with it and rarely use their tumble dryer.
I use 80 a month for 3 people in a 3 bedroom. Though am only 40 a month for gas cause we dont go above 19.5 degrees and heating is on 3 times a day 45 mins each time....I strangely enough its not cold either :j0 -
To anyone whose direct debit does go up by a considerable amount, mine was to go from £85 to £240, do check it out. It turned out since I had a new meter installed the wrong readings had been taken by the installer and I had overpaid £970 over a three year period
