Facebook !!!

First of all i am very sorry if this is on the wrong board,
I have been on facebook for about a yr, and people could not ask me to be there friend, now all of a sudden i am getting loads and i dont know how to stop it i went on to my settings and can only get either everyone or friends of friends, I dont want this, i want to be able to choose who i want!! can any body put me in the right direction please.

Anybody can ask to add you as a friend (unless you select friends of friends), but you do not have to accept friend requests! You can also delete unwanted friends.

The reason this happens is because people have figured out that if they get huge groups they can sell them off for large profits due to a captive audience, so they will randomly add everyone they see and if they have a group, all your friends see it apparently too...

Not quite figured out how to do it but when I do I will let you know

People (dodgy) are selling programs which skim the net and find lots of people and them try and add them as friends to there account, which they can then use for marketing, selling, spam, etc.

I'm not sure how you can stop it apart from getting facebook to do something about it, but I definitely wouldn't add anyone who I don't definitely know already.

thank you all for your replies, I would never had someone i dont know but i am angry that friends of friends can add me. like i said before it was me that had to invite only and i much prefare that. i dont want to hurt peoples feelings but i want control :mad:
I might just come off it all together.

They changed it a few weeks ago, it bugs me as well, cos mine used to be at my invite only as well:cool:

Like others have said, you dont have to accept their requests though, you can also control who sees what on your profile and wall in the settings function;)

To remove them go to their profile or your friends list and simply untick them;)

to block them you need to go into privacy settings and add them to the list their.....I think you can do it from their page as well.....way down on the left hand side:D

For multiple friends removal is there an option? or we need to go to each friends profile and delete them.

if you click on friends on your home page it should bring up a full list of your friends where you can delete who you want in one go. In order to block them permanently you can either go on their profile page scroll down to bottom left corner and the option is there to delete/block or you can manually block each one going to privacy settings and block list

You also need to go and check your privacy settings. When they changed it a few weeks ago, the default setting changed to everyone can search for you, and even search outside of Facebook, like on Google for instance. You need to make sure that your profile can only be seen by who you want to see it such as friends, or even friends of friends.
