Clydesdale mortgage in principle

Does anyone have any experience in Clydesdale mortgages? I'm sorting a mortgage through a broker at the moment and decided to take up a Clydesdale mortgage. However the broker told me that it's Clydesdales policy not to do Agreements in Principle, can anyone verfiy this? The broker told me that I've been run past their underwriter that the underwriter said that I should be ok, but they don't do AIPs. How can I put an offer on a property without an AIP?!

Over a year late replying (!), but this is still the case. Their underwriting process is manual and they don't offer AIP. Apparently they do all the initial underwriting (bank statements, affordability, valuation survey etc.) first, then do the credit check last. Seems insane.
Did you get your mortgage approved? If so, did it take a long time? I've been told to expect a 4 week turnaround from application to offer.
