Google Checkout Payments

I bought an item online that wasnt delivered for as yet unknown reasons - either the company went bust or else it was straight forward fraud. The problem is that I entered my credit card details into the Google Checkout Payment page when I paid for the goods. I am having great difficulty in recovering my money. My bank says that as Google Checkout is involved, Section 75 rules do not apply and Google Checkout only say that they will work with me to recover the money, whatever that means.
Any ideas as to how to recover my money? Would I be right to avoid making payments via Google Checkout in the future as my rights are diminished? Thanks
