Urgent fashion help...:)

OK, I'll tell you what it is..... because of my personality.... and some other things..... if I imagine myself getting dressed up, I always think to like an Amy Winehouse look, like I want to wear a nice dress but rock it up a bit.
Some here might think its fashion suicideto take a feminine, smart look and then team it with real big hair, loads of eye-liner, tattoos and crude jokes... but thats kind of me
. Suppose thats why I dislike the idea of girly dresses- I'm a rock chick at heart
fashionisti mse style care more about style than fashion. If thats you, do it. with the tatts sounds appropriate, and like you'll wear it again. It will work with the ''smart black shoes'' and you could add a red cardigan, silk scarf, or ribbon around your neck. That dress is not girly, but its VERY feminine. I think you could work the look. I think you sound as if you'd be comfortable doing that: do it. Don't dress as someone else.0 -
Just got in and seen this lovely thread ....should really go and have my shower before I start browsing, but.......
I tried some Star dresses by Julian McDonald at Debenhams last Autumn, they were an amazing fit for a womanly (as opposed to a girlish) body.
I think this is classy, ladies!

ETA Sorry having just come in at the end of the thread I'm a bit confused!
Is sjay the person who's looking for the dress? She wants rock-chick not classy? Ok if so forget the above!
This one might be mouldable though!
The fabric on this style of dress by J McD is amazing, if it's similar to the ones I tried on. It's very firm and full of stretch. Don't worry about the belt effect, the fabric is so firm it's really controlling around the front. They really need to be tried on to be believed!

Got to agree - that dess is fabulous (and it would take the rock chick customising - just needs a few accessories).
I don't do girly either ( size 12, 5ft 10) but I'd wear that.0 -

Sounds like the ones I tried ............were a kind of 2 in 1 dress. They had a brightly coloured/patterned wrap top, a wide patent belt under the bust , then this fantastically controlling fitted dress part in black. They felt amazing, the only prob was there was too much of me to be contained in the wrap top part IYKWIM;) and far too much spilling out and on display . If I went up a size the rest of the dress was too big.....so sadly it was not to be!0

The black pencil dress from Vivien of Holloway does not come with a belt. They look equally good without a belt. You can make them look rock chick with accessories or tone it down for a more classical look.
I've found a few more.
